Comment(s): This work was written for the Toronto Children’s Chorus, Jean Ashworth Bartle, director. The text is a traditional Irish poem from the Renaissance; the writing is lyrical, modal, and harmonically inventive. The setting crescendos to an impassioned climax and fades poignantly wistfully in the final strains of the recorder.
