Kyrie I and Kyrie IIa were originally titled "Kyrie from the Winds of Heaven" and were commissioned by St. Margaret's Anglican Girls' School (Brisbane, Australia) for performance by the music elective students during the 10th Annual Festival of Australian Music in September 1992.
