The Polish-German composer Rudolf Thoma (1829-1908) was born in Lasowice, lower Silesia, and seems to have worked mainly in Breslau (now Wroclaw) where he died. He taught at the Breslau Akademisches Institut fiir Kirchenmusik, and was Cantor at the Elizabeth-Kirche. He wrote operas and oratorios, as well as songs and piano music.
