The world of choral singing is back to normal! Wherever you look there has been a return to high-quality concerts with innovative programmes. Once again we can take pleasure in listening to concerts put on by friends and acquaintances, and in putting the finishing touches to our own choral music-making. And Musica International is fully a part of this. In the last few months the online database at https://www.musicanet.org has again been consulted at levels not seen since before the pandemic. The fact that unique visitor numbers are again above 4 000 per day has strengthened our desire to make the Musica project even more accessible, even more indispensable, for everyone involved in choral music. Composers are increasingly using the database to store information about their own music. Also steadily improving are the overall rate of new records describing scores, and the quality of composer biographies (more than 28 000 out of 33 000 have now been revamped). We are on the lookout for out-of-the-ordinary concert programmes that we can plunder to enrich the database with totally new records. To help us do even more, please do not hesitate to volunteer your services for our ambitious academic project and/or respond to our fund drive (see below). Every little counts, as we need to maintain our overworked little team of permanent staff. Almost every day we are compelled to acknowledge that a huge number of choral directors, composers and even music editors are still unaware that Musica even exists. So please spread the word, and don’t hesitate to get in touch (office@musicanet.org) to see what you can do. You have nothing to lose, and we could all gain a great deal! Jean Sturm Executive Director of Musica International

- access to our entire list of more than 33 000 composer biographies;
- access to the Auditorium, a comprehensive compilation of audio and video files accompanying the records held by Musica International – all by alphabetical order of composer;

| Musica needs you! Musica International is a non-profit association which, for over forty years, has been developing a global database of the choral repertoire of all styles and periods, and has become the gold-standard tool for those involved in choral music worldwide.
Everything it offers, however, has been made possible by the financial contributions of its users and members, as well as the active participation of many volunteers.
The pandemic is now behind us, but contributions through donations have not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels. Many of Musica International's institutional members are still facing financial problems, which have not yet allowed them to return to the levels of support they provided Musica in the past.
To help alleviate this situation, and to help further the enormous academic work required to grow this valuable resource, we are calling on you to make a donation!
To thank you, we'll give you full privileged access to the musicanet.org website for one year. Here you'll find your favorite choral works... and plenty of unknown ones as well! |

Musica continues to develop to better meet your choral repertoire information needs! As before, major advances have been made in recent: - the score database has happily grown beyond 200,000 references as of June 2023, and the referencing of the choral repertoire continues to advance
- improvements to existing files are constantly being made
- a Musica session was held in Strasbourg, bringing together choral conductors who added numerous new choral score description sheets to the Musica database
Have you ever considered taking an active part in the development of Musica by sharing your expertise as a volunteer? If the Musica project is what it is today, it's thanks to all those who have made it happen! We're looking for a wide range of services: database enrichment, translations, adding video links, promotion... Contact us at office@musicanet.org. Thank you very much! PS: Why not encourage your choral federation to apply for the 'global privileged access' package, which will benefit all its members! Just ask them to contact us: office@musicanet.org. |

| | An international Musica International session was held in Strasbourg from 21 to 26 October. We were so pleased to welcome active participants in the choral community from France, Germany, Poland and Switzerland – among them choral directors, a composer, a singer and a head of a choral federation – who helped us enrich the Musica database by inputting many new descriptive records of scores, as well as composer biographies. A particular highlight was the participation of Zuzanna Koziej, a young Polish composer who added three of her own beautiful pieces to the records. Take a look at an example of her work. We’d love to hear from you if you too would like to take part in a Musica session. Just write to office@musicanet.org, enclosing a short CV with details of your choral background, when you would be available, and whether or not you have experience of working with a database.

| - Help actively to reference your choral heritage online! Musica International is a collaborative project that is run by and for people involved in choral singing. We need volunteers who want to share their passion with the choral community by taking an active part in the project. You can do this in many ways, such as inputting and checking records, translating, assisting with communication tasks. Contact us at office@musicanet.org.
- You can now manage your own choral library without needing to input all the data yourself. Just sign up for a “private field” in the Musica database and take advantage of all the information we already have - all the power of our IT tools to build your own catalogue by simply adding your locations in your private field. The field will normally be accessible and visible to you alone, but you can also choose to share scores from your library more widely. Contact us at office@musicanet.org.
- Are you responsible for a choral federation? We offer global privileged access to www.musicanet.org for all your members, from your website! An advantage which your choir directors will thank you for. Contact us at office@musicanet.org.
- We are also looking to establish a network of national correspondents in all countries. Why not you? Even if you are unavailable to do this yourself, perhaps you know someone who could – someone in your national choral federation, for example. As Musica International is an academic collaborative project, this could be a wonderful opportunity for a university professor, a music librarian, a conductor, a singer, or anyone interested in the choral art.
