Ist nicht Ephraim mein teurer Sohn
und mein trautes Kind?
Denn ich gedenk noch wohl daran,
was ich ihm geredet habe.
Darum bricht mir mein Herz gegen ihn,
daß ich mich sein erbarmen muß,
spricht der Herr.

English Translation

Is Ephraim my dear son
and my beloved child?
I still remember him
and what I said to him;
therefore my heart breaks for him.
I will surely have mercy on him,
said the Lord.
